SULPHUR SPRINGS, TEXAS, JULY 21, 2005 – American Legend Aircraft Company announced today the certification of it Legend Cub. Under the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) new Light-Sport Rule released one year ago today, Legend has received airworthiness certification of its Legend Cub as a Special Light-Sport Aircraft (S-LSA).
According to the FAA ruling, “Aircraft holding this airworthiness certificate may be used for personal use and for compensation while conducting flight training, rental, or towing (of light-sport gliders or unpowered ultralights).” It is expected that the Legend Cub will serve well in a recreational flying role. With its design and color scheme, the Legend Cub has the appeal of a familiar and very popular aircraft type. American Legend Aircraft Company sees the all-new airplane appealing to those who fly simply for the joy of it.
As a certified aircraft, the Legend Cub may be operated with a light-sport certificate or by FAA certificated pilots.

The Legend Cub is a two-place, single piston-engine powered aircraft designed to meet Light-Sport Aircraft category certification requirements. It will have an empty weight of 850 lbs. The Legend Cub is propelled by a 100-horsepower Continental O–200 engine with electric start. With the optional floats, the aircraft will be capable of water takeoffs and landings. The Legend Cub is bringing back the enjoyment and economics of general aviation aircraft for today’s flying enthusiast.
