Cubs on Mars View this post on Instagram Cubs on Mars… the Martin JRM Mars long-range transport spreads its wings at 200 feet while a diminutive Cub fills the breadth of a conventional T-hangar’s 40’ width with its 35’ wingspan. Two atop the Martin Mars with USAAC roundels, the bright yellow Cubs reveal the enormity of this great airship. A silver painted J3 wearing Royal AF roundels was known as Flitfire. First flight of the Martin Mars: 1942, retired 1956. First flight of the J3 Cub: 1938, still flying! . Photos courtesy of National Air and Space Museum.
